The ambiance was festive as excited fans filtered into Charter One Pavilion with their tank tops, sunblock and dancing shoes on. They would not be disappointed, for this event would be one for the record books.
DJ Jeremy opened the festival on the International Stage with a smoothed-out San Francisco House set. Derrick Carter got the place moving with his trademark booty-shaking funk and Acid House. Danny Tenaglia spun an electrifying blend of dark Tribal, Techno and Garage to an adoring crowd as the sun went down, with outstanding vocal performances from Barbara Tucker of “Beautiful People” and “I Get Lifted”. On the Homegrown stage, Chicago native Lady D rocked the house with a
groovy set of dirty funk and jacking beats. Maurice Joshua took the reigns in the afternoon,
dazzling the crowd with a selection of old school classics and Deep House. Dajae's R&B vocal performance lit up the stage prior to Ralphi Rosario's set, as he played a blissful collection of Deep House favorites and R&B to close the evening.

On the second day, South Africa's Glen Lewis made his U.S. debut at the festival on the International Stage and astonished everyone with his seamless mixing of vocal and Deep House. Chicago's Godfather, Frankie Knuckles, played an incredible set of soulful Chicago funk, Garage, and remixes of R&B classics. Jocelyn Brown's gospel-inflected performance was astonishing as she sang her Dance classics to an elated crowd. David Morales closed out the night with a wonderful blend of New York Garage and Tribal House. On the Homegrown stage, legendary producer Steve “Silk” Hurley manned the decks with a smooth set of R&B/House. Terry Hunter followed with a fresh collection of old school Funk and R&B as a prelude to Jamie Principle's medley performance of "Your Love",
"Waiting On My Angel" and "Baby Wants To Ride". Andre Hatchett closed the weekend to a
jumping crowd as he played Disco, Funk and classic R&B.

As the sun set on Charter One Pavilion, this event would remain ingrained in the memory of those who attended for quite some time. The MOVE! Festival succeeded in assembling a distinguished group of House music royalty to bring their legacy, their music, and their love to the masses once again.

PRESS: CDM Chicago, NFP presents MOVE! - the 2006 Chicago International House Music Festival being held on Saturday, July 22 and Sunday, July 23. The new lakefront outdoor venue Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island will house the event from 1 PM to 11PM. The venture between CDM and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Bureau of Tourism (IBOT) will showcase the genre of House music which was cultivated in the city of Chicago.

“The Chicago International House Music Festival is sure to provide a fun-filled weekend

The 2-day festival will unite an International melting pot of people of all races, ages and sexual preferences as well as aficionados of House music. Move! features some of the most renowned performers including three GRAMMY® Award winners: Frankie Knuckles, Maurice Joshua and David Morales. The festival will introduce South African DJ Glen Lewis along with the legendary singers Jocelyn Brown, Barbara Tucker and Chicago's own Jamie Principle and Dajae. Danny Tenaglia will be celebrating Saturday evening with an extended set in support of the closing of Gay Games 7 on the International stage. Also featured are Chicago-born Ralphi Rosario, Derrick Carter, Terry Hunter, GRAMMY® nominee Steve “Silk” Hurley, DJeremy, Lady D and Andre Hatchett. Special celebrity hosts Lady Bunny, Phillip Bloch and Lee Ann Trotter will MC.

Festival Director Randy Crumpton, Artistic/Creative Director Frederick Dunson and Operations Director Thomas Mathes are producing the festival. “We are excited to be hosting MOVE! and know this first-year addition to Chicago's annual festivals will be a great success. The clubbing download company Beatport.com will give 10 free downloads to ticket buyers. Additionally, YouthAIDS, an HIV/AIDS education and prevention initiative of PSI is an official charity affiliated with us,” say the Directors.
YouthAIDS reaches 600 million young people in more than 60 countries with life-saving messages, products, services and care. David Morales, who is one of the headliners of the festival, is also an ambassador of the 2006 ALDO FIGHTS AIDS campaign. His message is, "AIDS doesn't discriminate.

No Territory. No Race. No Age." The call to action is the sale of Empowerment Tags which retail for $5, with 100% of the net proceeds benefiting YouthAIDS. The tags will be sold onsite at the festival and online at www.youthaids-aldo.org. "ALDO and YouthAIDS are proud to be part of the Move! Festival. The majority of people infected with HIV do not know they have it. The message is simple but powerful - get educated, get tested and buy a tag," comments Kate Roberts, Founder, YouthAIDS.

Crumpton adds, “We want to celebrate house music in its birthplace and hope to encourage a better understanding and relationship between cultures and people through dance, to make a positive contribution to the art of music.
