cherry on our city's clubbing cake - Heaven.
We caught up with Shane a week before he headlines

partying and the life of a zombie……

Q: How's it going ?
A: I'm good thanks

Q: How would you describe your music?
A: Electro and techno.

Q: Your one half of Bodyrox who had a massive single last summer with 'Yeah Yeah' How did that all come about and what can we expect next from you guys?
A: Yeah Yeah was the 2nd track we wrote together
about 4 years ago. We had a number of remixes done to keep it fresh
and invited Luciani to feature onit at the end of last summer. We've been working
on an number of things since which we are about to unleash this summer.

Q: Hi Shane Hows it going ?
A: Top of the pops!

Q: We read that you a DJ, producer, and promoter. So how did it all start for you in this industry ?
A: It started back in South Africa in the early Nineties - I guess it all started when When Carl Cox came to South Africa for the first time and played at our Local club. It was the only club playing acid house at the time and Carl smashed it. He was truly inspirational and it was from that moment I wanted to immerse myself totally in DJ Culture & electronic music!

Q: Has there been one particular moment in last year that really stands out?
A: Last year was such a brilliant year that there were several moments! Playing the opening at DC10 for CIRCO LOCO was a highlight for sure. Then there was the night at Turnmills where I was warming up for Junior Jack & Kid Crème - the boys were a no show! So i play an extended 6hr set and really let rip! Same thing happened with MYLO a few months before. Guess I really got a few lucky breaks last year - but made the most of them and delivered every single time!

Q: What do you think has been central to your success so far?
A: Continually delivering quality sets and staying ahead of the pack!

Q: So what have you been up to recently?
A: We recently celebrated the FILTHY 9th Birthday at The CROSS which was rather cool night. The Zombie afterparty has kept me rather busy too! Also been spending a lot more time in the studio!

Q: Your currently working with the likes of Tim Sheridan.
A: Yeah, Tim is a really good laugh and a wicked DJ - so it been good hooking up with him. We decided to combine ZOMBIES ATE MY BRAIN & VERYVERYVERYWRONGINDEED We did the first party in December as a one off - it was so good we decided to do it as a regular Saturday night event. It's full on zombie fancy dress -
so u can imagine the carnage!

Q: So what sort of productions have you got coming out?
A: Got some quality releases coming out in the next few months.
My first track which I did with Timo Garcia called "zombies revenge" has been signed and should be out in shops in the next month. I just finished the follow up (still untitled) - which is getting caned by a lot of the right DJ's. My productions are gonna be a priority for me this year - so watch out!

Q: Moving away from your own production which artists feature in your
DJ sets the most at the moment?
A: There are so many artist that its hard to say. But producers like FuckPony, Matthew Johnson, Martin Buttrich, Stephan Bodzin & Oliver Huntemann are favs!

Q: What labels are doing it for you right now?
A: Kompakt, Systematic, Wagon Repair, Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical & M-nus!

Q: Who is your hero and who do you take inspiration from?
A: As mentioned Carl Cox deserves hero satus! DJ's like Richie Hawtin ,
Steve Bug, Loco Dice & Mr C are really inspirational!

Q: You run a lot of parties across the capital but which venue would
you say is your favourite and why?
A: THE END - especially when it's the CIRCO LOCO parties. Just because they are just so much fun and the crowd is always second to none Never mind the amazing line ups!

Q: Is there anywhere in the world where you would love to play
A: I have played quiet a lota round the world but have yet to play South America. Would love to play Brazil!

Q: For those not yet familiar with your DJing, how would you describe your style?
A: I would say my style is filthy electronic underground house music. It can be quiet emotional at times - so bring tissues!

Q: What can we expect from you at your forth coming gig
for Minimar @ Heaven on February 9th ?
A: You can expect the best house music you ever heard!
