Kinky
Malinki are proud to announce a new member to the gang!
It's already a hugely exciting time for
the London based club as they continue to spread their
kinky, uplifting house sound across the UK and beyond,
and now they are bringing in a new member - Peppermint
Jam's Mark Robinson!
Already a founding member of one of the world's most
enduring house music labels, Mark is a renowned DJ and
global star who has racked up many air miles at all
of the best clubs. His arrival comes as Kinky Malinki
announce plans for two new mix releases this summer,
following on from the hugely successful Kinky Malinki:
Series One debut, and Mark's expertise and know-how
will be used as he guest mixes one of the two CDs along
with new partner in crime and KM resident, Grant Richards.
Mark gives his thoughts on
how it feels to be the newest Kinky Malinki member and
also what to expect from this exciting DJ.

Q:
How does it feel being part of the Kinky Malinki
team now?
And being asked to mix KM Series 2?
|
|
A:
It's great as Kinky is fast becoming one of
the hottest brands out there and I feel I can
really express myself musically at their events.
Being asked to compile and Mix series 2 is a
bit of an honor too which I can't wait to get
stuck into!

|
Q:
What do you think you will bring to the fold?
|
|
A:
I think musically I will bring something slightly
different to the table. I like all styles of
house and like to blend them together. I like
to break new music and balance things out with
lots of beats and accapellas in the mix to create
my own edits of big tunes. I think the Kinky
Malinki crowd are gonna love it!

|
Q:
Tell us a bit about yourself?
|
|
A:
I'm 29 years old and I've been in this business
for nearly 14 years now (!!!) It all started
with my local record shop and getting a show
on Girls FM way back when I
was a tender 16 year old! Nowadays my day to
day job is Label Manager / A&R for Peppermint
Jam Records. This basically means finding cool
music to release
on the label and then making sure it sells!

|
Q:
What can we expect from Series 2 and your new
partner in crime, Grant Richards?
|
|
A:
We are aiming to recreate the sound of the Kinky
Malinki events such as Turnmills where we have
3 rooms of music. One disc will be slightly
more underground and groovy while the other
will be the sound of the main room. Rest assured
there will be a few surprises and no doubt a
classic here and there for good measure!
|
|
Q:
How is the rest of 2007 shaping up for you?
|
|
A:
Looking good! Can't wait to get rolling with
the Album Tour throughout July and August… Then
we have to start thinking about Series 3 which
is gonna be
coming out late September!!!
