On
Feb 11th, Progression launches 'Fridays in Session'
at Cabaret Voltaire. Focused on a more intimate
vibe, this opens the next chapter for Progression,
giving scope to a whole new package of guests
and an array of tomorrow's DJ talent. Running
as a series of nights, 'Fridays in Session' is
set to inject the Progression vibe into a Friday
night, the type of vibe which Edinburgh has sadly
lacked for quite some time. We've chosen Cabaret
Voltaire to host these parties and it really is
the perfect venue for our plans. The Cab is one
of Edinburgh best venues, boasting Edinburgh's
historic architecture, low ceilings and the most
intimate of surroundings, not to mention a newly
installed sound and lighting system.

Showcasing house music on a whole over 2 rooms,
'Fridays in Session' shall be presenting the usual
high standard, calibre of guests that Progression
is renowned for, but with an emphasis on also
pushing up and coming DJs, cutting edge producers
and label/album tours. The first night leads by
example with French DJ/Producer, David Guetta,
making his first ever Edinburgh appearance,
along side young rising star Denney (more information
to follow).
With a commitment and focus on pushing Scotland's
up and coming DJ talent, 'Fridays in Session'
shall be offering 1 DJ slot per month……. be it
room1 or room2. Progression is focused on house
music as a whole, with 2 rooms giving scope for
what we do. So we're looking for all kinds of
styles…
Mixes must be a minimum of 60mins and can be submitted
on CD (with track separation) to: Progression,
P.O. BOX 28519. Edinburgh, EH4 1WU. Submissions
must include a track listing and a description
of the mix with reasons for choice of tracks.
Please note, entrants must not reside at any other
established club night. Winners shall be announced
on the Progression website,
with a feature and the winning mix being made
available for download.
The launch night of 'Fridays in Session' showcases
the Edinburgh debut for French DJ, David Guetta.
This French legend is serious hot property, his
soon to be released album, 'GUETTA BLASTER', is
due out on Feb 2005 and his latest single, 'THE
WORLD IS MINE' is currently number 1 in the buzz
charts, an accolade that says it all! Most certainly
man of the moment… In support are your ever quality
residents Alan Dobson and Gav Grant joined by
Middlesbrough based DJ and Mixmag future Hero,
Denney, which reflects our policy of pushing future
talent. Denney, chosen by Mixmag as a futur
hero in 2004, sent us a mix CD late last year;
so impressed that we were, we had to get him on
board, think funk-tech with a twist, think San
Francisco……!! Alongside this mouth watering line-up,
we will have the first chosen bedroom DJ from
the ongoing future talent quest, so get those
mixes done, it could be you! There's no closing
date, it's an ongoing process,
and we're looking for tomorrow's talent today.
Worldwide DJs of the moment, future heroes, along
side the odd Progression favourite thrown
in for good measure……..
Progression presents Fridays in Session…
